The Obstetric Medicine fellowship program at the University of Toronto includes training sites at three teaching hospitals: Mount Sinai Hospital, Sunnybrook Health Science Centre and St. Michael’s Hospital.
Training is based on the Canadian curriculum for Obstetric Medicine (2010). This is a curriculum that is based on the CanMEDs criteria, with input from established Obstetric Internists in the country and can be tailored to individuals completing general internal medicine or a medical subspecialty fellowship program.
Trainees with academic aspirations are preferred and are encouraged to develop additional expertise in medical education or clinical research. Trainees are expected to present research at national or international meetings. Under special circumstances, trainees who desire only an enhanced clinical experience may be accommodated.
The training program is flexible. Training will include obstetric medicine/medical subspecialty outpatient clinics, inpatient consult service, maternal fetal medicine outpatient clinics and clinical pharmacology clinics/rounds. Below is a description of the available clinics and academic activities.
